The Glioblastoma Monster

On October 30, 2012, after suffering various maladies and symptoms for 6 months I was diagnosed as having terminal brain cancer. The diagnosis, Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Stage 4, was confirmed in the next two weeks during which I had several MRIs and a wide-awake craniotomy for the purpose of performing a biopsy on one of the 5 otherwise inoperable tumours. The pathology report on the biopsy samples confirmed the diagnosis the neurosurgeon had previously made based on what he had seen in the MRIs. Two weeks later on Monday, December 3, 2012, I started treatment which was comprised of radiation therapy 5 days a week, plus chemotherapy (Temodar) 7 days a week. I will be doing this regimen for 6 weeks. Then I take a 4 week break. The break will be followed by 4 weeks of high-dose chemotherapy alone.

In November 2012 I was given a median survival time of 13-15 months. There is a 25% chance that I will survive 24 months.

I have decided to create a video blog chronicling this journey.

Here are some links to give you all perspective on what this nightmare is all about:

Some of you will find what I have to say in the video clips upsetting.

I am not sure how often I will post to the blog or reply to emails as I have many other things going on in my life right now including promoting an album which was officially released on January 7, 2013.
